Own Up

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 17, 2026 | Last Updated: September 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how LPS Product Co, LLC, the company that operates Own Up ("Own Up," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects personal information through the Own Up websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Own Up is a parent-directed family organization service. Adults create and control family accounts and child profiles. Children do not create independent Own Up accounts, although a parent or guardian may allow a child to use a child profile within the family account.

By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Service, do not use the Service.

1 Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the Service and through communications with Own Up, including support requests. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that operate under their own privacy policies.

2 Information We Collect

2.1 Account and authentication information

When an adult creates or uses an account, we may collect the adult's name, email address, account preferences, and authentication information. Passwords and other authentication credentials may be processed and secured by our authentication provider; Own Up does not need access to your readable password.

2.2 Family and child-profile information

We collect information the Account Owner or another authorized adult chooses to add to the family account, which may include:

  • family and household information;
  • a child's first name or nickname and birthdate or age;
  • Responsibilities, To-Dos, schedules, time windows, completion status, and approval status;
  • Credits, Rewards, and related family settings;
  • notes, preferences, and other information entered into the Service; and
  • family invitations, profile access settings, PIN settings, and device-linking information.

We recommend using only a child's first name or nickname and entering only the information needed to use the Service.

Why we collect a child's birthdate: We use a child's birthdate solely to calculate their approximate age. Age is used internally to generate age-appropriate suggestions for Responsibilities and Rewards within the app. Birthdates are not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Service.

2.3 Child-profile activity

When a parent enables child access, a child may interact with the Service by viewing assigned items, marking items complete, using To-Dos, and taking other actions available in the child experience. We may collect those interactions and associate them with the applicable child profile so the Service works as intended and the Account Owner can review family activity.

2.4 Device, usage, and technical information

We may automatically collect limited technical and usage information, including device type, browser type, operating system, IP address, app version, pages or features used, approximate activity times, diagnostic data, crash or error reports, and security logs.

If push notifications or device-based child access are enabled, we may collect a device identifier or push-notification token and associate it with the relevant family account or child profile so notifications and access are directed to the intended device. We may also use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, support security, and understand how the Service is used.

2.5 Subscription and transaction information

If you purchase a subscription, we may receive limited transaction information such as the plan selected, purchase date, renewal status, transaction identifier, and payment status. Payments may be processed by an app store or payment provider. Own Up does not receive or store your full payment-card number when it is handled by those providers.

2.6 Communications and support

We collect information you provide when you contact us, request support, respond to a survey, join a waitlist, or submit feedback. This may include your contact information, the content of your message, and information needed to investigate or resolve an issue.

2.7 Information the Service is not designed to collect

Own Up is not designed to request precise location, address-book contacts, photographs, audio or video recordings, biometric information, health information, government identification numbers, or school records. Please do not enter sensitive information that the Service does not request into notes or other free-form fields.

3 How We Collect Information

We collect information from the following sources: information adults provide directly when creating or managing an account; information generated through use of the Service, including child-profile activity and family-account settings; information collected automatically from devices, browsers, and app activity; information received from app stores, payment processors, authentication providers, analytics providers, diagnostics tools, and other service providers; and information provided when you contact us for support, feedback, or other communications.

4 Children's Privacy and Parental Control

Own Up is designed for adults to create and manage family accounts. A child does not create an independent account or provide a personal email address to register. The Account Owner decides whether to create a child profile, what information to include, whether to enable child access, and which family members or devices may access that profile.

Own Up is intended for use by adults and by children only under the direction and control of a parent or legal guardian.

To the extent the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies, it governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information of children under the age of 13. Own Up relies on the parent or legal guardian who creates or manages the family account to provide any required parental consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of information associated with a child profile, including profiles for children under 13.

Information associated with a child profile may include information entered by an adult, limited activity generated when the child uses the profile, and technical information needed to provide and secure the Service. We use this information to provide family-account features, synchronize activity, deliver notifications selected by the Account Owner, maintain security, provide support, and improve the Service.

We do not permit children to make child-profile information publicly available through the Service. We do not sell children's personal information or use child-profile information for targeted advertising.

A parent or legal guardian may request to review, correct, or delete information associated with a child profile, withdraw permission for continued child use, or ask us to stop further collection or use through available account controls or by contacting hello@getownup.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify the requester's identity and authority. If we learn that a child profile was created without appropriate adult authority, we may suspend access and delete the associated information. Deleting a child profile or withdrawing consent may limit or disable features that depend on that information.

5 How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • create, authenticate, and administer adult accounts and family profiles;
  • provide Responsibilities, To-Dos, schedules, Credits, Rewards, approvals, and related features;
  • synchronize information and authorized access across devices;
  • deliver account, security, service, and push notifications selected or enabled by the Account Owner;
  • process subscriptions and maintain purchase and billing status;
  • respond to support requests and communicate about the Service;
  • monitor performance, troubleshoot errors, and improve usability and features;
  • protect the security and integrity of accounts, users, and the Service;
  • enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud, misuse, or unlawful activity; and
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

6 Communications and Notifications

We may send adults transactional or service-related messages, including account, security, billing, policy, support, and feature notices. If an Account Owner enables push notifications for a child's device or profile, we may use the associated device token and profile identifier to send those notifications.

Adults may manage many notification settings through the Service or device settings. Marketing communications may be unsubscribed from using the instructions in the message. Disabling marketing does not stop essential account or service communications.

7 How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information or use personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not knowingly sell, share, or use child-profile information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

Authorized family access. Information in a family account may be visible to the Account Owner and other family members or devices the Account Owner authorizes, based on available permissions and profile settings.

Service providers. We may use providers that support hosting, database services, authentication, analytics, diagnostics, push notifications, email, customer support, payments, and app distribution. They may process information only as needed to provide services to Own Up and subject to applicable confidentiality, security, and legal obligations.

Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect a person from harm, investigate fraud or misuse, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, property, or security of Own Up, our users, or others.

Business transactions. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

With your direction or consent. We may disclose information when an adult user asks us to do so or otherwise provides consent.

8 Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, software development kits, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember settings, secure accounts, diagnose problems, measure feature use, and improve the Service. We do not use child-profile information for targeted advertising.

Own Up does not currently use cookies, pixels, or software development kits to serve targeted advertising or to build advertising profiles from child-profile information. If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any consent or choice required by law before applying the change where required.

Browser or device controls may allow you to limit cookies or reset certain identifiers. Disabling necessary technologies may prevent parts of the Service from working correctly.

9 Data Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain the account, fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the Service and its users.

An Account Owner may request deletion through any deletion tool available in the Service or by emailing hello@getownup.com. When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify account and family information that is no longer needed, subject to limited retention for legal, security, fraud-prevention, transaction-record, and dispute-resolution purposes. Deleted information may remain for a limited period in secure backups before those backups are overwritten through normal processes.

If you cancel a subscription without deleting the account, we may retain the account and family information so the Service remains available through the paid period or for continued use of any free features. Subscription cancellation and account deletion are separate actions.

10 Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures may include access controls, encrypted transmission, authentication protections, provider security controls, monitoring, and data minimization.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting account credentials, PINs, invitation links, device links, and devices used to access the Service. Contact hello@getownup.com promptly if you believe an account or device has been accessed without authorization.

11 Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your relationship to the account and applicable law, you may be able to:

  • access or obtain information about personal information we maintain;
  • correct inaccurate account or family information;
  • delete an account, child profile, or associated family information;
  • withdraw permission for a child's continued use of a child profile;
  • manage authorized family members, devices, and notifications;
  • unsubscribe from marketing communications; or
  • object to or restrict certain processing where applicable law provides that right.

Many changes can be made through account settings. Other requests may be sent to hello@getownup.com. We may need to verify your identity, account relationship, and authority before completing a request. We may retain information when required or permitted by law.

We will respond to privacy requests within the time required by applicable law. If we deny a request in whole or in part, we will explain the basis for the decision where required and provide information about any available appeal process. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and may also require the account holder, parent, or legal guardian to verify the request directly.

12 State Privacy Rights

Residents of some U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, such as rights to confirm whether we process personal information, access or obtain a copy of personal information, correct inaccurate information, delete personal information, opt out of certain processing where applicable, and appeal a decision regarding a request. Own Up does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use personal information for targeted advertising as those terms are commonly defined by state privacy laws.

To submit a request or appeal, email hello@getownup.com and describe the request. Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent. Depending on applicable law and the nature of the request, we may verify requests by matching information provided in the request to information associated with the account, requesting confirmation from the Account Owner, parent, or legal guardian, or taking other reasonable verification steps. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

13 Third-Party Services and App Stores

The Service may contain links to or rely on third-party services, including app stores and payment providers. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. For example, an app store or payment provider may independently collect billing, device, or account information to process a purchase. We encourage you to review those policies.

14 Processing in the United States

Own Up is operated from the United States. Information may be processed and stored in the United States and in other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.

15 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated Policy and revise the Last Updated date. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice as required by law, such as by email or an in-app notice. Where required, we will obtain consent before applying a material change to information already collected.
